David Mitchell

First Fiction Buyer here, he came for tea last month and signed our "author wall". He has good memories of his 2 years here. He said this shop is like Dr Who: goes on reinventing itself.

Fiction Buyer, 2001-2003. Co-author of: Smack The Pony, Bob The Builder and Green Wing. Has a page at start of Green Wing Scripts book.

Bookseller, 1999-2001. Hollyoaks scriptwriter, author of the Hollyoaks script book.

 

 

Alan Mcarthur

Bookseller 1998-1999, main author of Is It Just Me or Is Everything Shit? and its sequel.

 

 

 

Andy Mc Nair

Bookseller, Canterbury, Earls Court, Imperial College, Piccadilly, 1998-2004. Fulltime Tenor, Chorus Royal Opera House. It's a little-known fact that Waterstones HR paid for his ENO course "the knack" out of the Staff Development Fund.

 

 

Sonia Overall

Bookseller and then Assistant Manager, 1999-2003. Successful Novelist. auhtor of A Likeness (collins,2004) and Realm of Shells (collins), currently in our 3 for 2!!

 

John Grigsby

Bookseller, 1999-2002, expert on Ancient Civilisations. After heckling Graham Hancock at an event here he became his co-author on Mars Mystery. He then wrote Warriors of the Wasteland (2002) , and Beowulf and Grendel (2006).

 

 

Paula Croxon

Assistant Manager, 1996-1997, author of the Piatkus Encyclopaedia of Mind Body and Spirit. (1998)

 

 

 

 

Claire Seymour

bookseller. 1997- 2000, has written a biography of Benjamin Britten (2003).

 

 

 

Michael Amerstorfer

Wrote Lehrgeld, a crime novel set in Canterbury.
He has also had several radio plays performed in Austria.

 

 

Martin Latham

Our manager, wrote all the traveller, biographer, and historian entries for The Oxford Guide to Twentieth Century Literature, in 1996 (and I have a PhD in Indian history).

also.. Umberto Eco did a day behind the till here, on a Sunday. We have a rather bad photo of him there!
